Weekend Update

This long weekend was a full one.

Layne started the weekend off with a project.

Saturday was a big day for our pups. We took Bob Barker’s advice and had them both spayed.

Here are our brave girls at the vet.

Here’s Bennett in her sweater (the vet tech recommended it to keep her away from her stitches – I didn’t argue – it’s so cute).

Here’s June. She was more than a little out of it when we brought her home.

And here are the dreaded cones of shame. And Adam. Feeling their pain.

In addition to nursing the pups back to health, we picked up a gem for our upcoming bathroom remodel. Adam drove a total of eight hours on Sunday to bring her home. Here she is:

We think she’ll fit in nicely with the look we’re going for.

On Monday, we had an unexpected emergency room visit.

Layne’s dad was experiencing chest pain. Eight hours later, his tests were normal and he was able to go home.

Adam spotted this charming little error while paying a visit to the waiting room bathroom:

Despite the craziness of recovering pups and the trip to the emergency room, we still managed to knock out a home improvement project. Here’s a sneak peek:

We hope your long weekend was in fact long and nice. We’re in for a packed short week of work and school and rehearsals. Ahoy, friends!

2012: Year in Review

2012 handed us many moments to treasure. Let’s take a look at some of the highlights.

In January, we took a trip to London with our friends, James and Ryan.

James, Ryan, Liz and us outside the Inn at the Cotswolds.

In March, Layne and Katy took a trip to Los Angeles to audition for The Voice.

Here’s a view from the back of the line (a few thousand people turned up the morning we were there).

We took time to see some of the Hollywood sights and ran into a couple of pretty famous celebrities.

In April, Adam came home for good from his one year assignment in Afghanistan.

We travelled to the Oregon Coast on Memorial Day weekend with our friends, Heather and Travis.

June was a big month! Adam participated in the Sawtooth Relay.

Adam’s brother Andrew married Kacy – cementing the Dream Team by matrimony.

In July, we made the hike all the way to the top of Mount Borah, Idaho’s highest peak. We made the trip with eleven of our friends.

In August, we celebrated our one year anniversary.

We held a reception the weekend before our anniversary to incorporate a lot of people who weren’t able to come to the wedding.

It was a blast. We hope to hold a celebration like this every year.
